| | | Cettis warblers We walked around Slapton Ley, as usual it was stuffed with Dragonflys and other insects, so I took the top walk around the ley. In one clump of trees there was an interminable racket from some birds that appeared to be Cettis warblers. This was confirmed by a keen birdwatcher who was staring fixidly at the birds.

| | | Re: Cettis warblers Its a very 'explosive' song. Short and sharp and a cracking bird to see although a bit skulking. |

| | | Re: Cettis warblers Hear them a lot at Stodmarsh. One in particular who seems to sit very close to the David Feast Hide. Really does give you an ear blasting sometimes. But there are several others there as well.
All hidden of course!

| | | Re: Cettis warblers I have a Cetti's warbler on one of my local patches, and I have been trying to clap eyes on it for...months. On Saturday morning, I was analyzing the pattern and location of the song along the same 100 yard row of bushes/trees, and positioning myself where I thought it might be next. After 30+ mins of this cat and mouse game, the Cetti's suddenly burst out of the cover right where I was standing and flew straight past my face. I don't know who was more surpised, me or the bird, but I actually managed to get a look at it for 0.043 seconds. Which was enough for me.
Wouldn't like to try and photograph one though. Good luck indeed with that. You're going to need it. (but I'd love to see the results)!
Cheers. Nik.
