| | | Re: Black headed or med gulls Now back home and had a proper look and would say they were all Black Headed. Picture 1 is the hardest to see. Picture 2, the bird has too much black on the wing for the age of it to be a med gull and picture three the head colour is chocolate brown whereas on a med gull it is almost black. Also on pic 3 the dark head isn't extended far enough down the neck, the bill isn't red enough and the wings look to dark for it to be a med.

| | | Re: Black headed or med gulls Pic’s 2 & 3 are Black-headed Gull’s for me, Pic 2 is a first summer (1 year old) Black headed Gull told by the dark diagonal stripe and trailing edge on the upper wing but it is showing a full hood, to the best of my knowledge Med gulls rarely if ever show a full hood at the first summer plumage.
Pic 3 is obviously an adult bird but is showing dark under wing Med Gull has pure white under wing when adult it also has a brown head Med gulls head is black and extends down the neck, the bill is to lightly built for Med Gull.
Pic 1 is the hardest to determine and to me the upper wing pattern looks wrong for both Med & Black-headed but looks right for first summer Common Gull and as they do show some dark on the head and the shot is so out of focus that I am going to stick my head out and say Common Gull but without any real conviction.
