| | | Riddle wrapped in mystery Wandering to my office after springwatch tonight, I heard lots of crashing and bashing going on, cautiously popping my head round the door (just in case it was the local sparrowhawks) the first thing I noticed was a white egg on the floor and then I presume its owner a pigeon doing its best to knock itself out on the windows. It eventually landed in a mass of cables behid a desk and I managed to untangle it, check it over for injury and turf it out. Whats intrigued me though is the egg, would it off laid it out of fright.
PS the egg was cold so I dont know how long the pigeon had been there but I was last in the office at 19.55. |

| | | Re: Riddle wrapped in mystery Sure there's not a nest nearby that the egg would've rolled out of? I would've thought the egg would be warm if the Pigeon had just laid it (I'm no expert though!).

Nige | My office is a building in my back garden, there is/was a pigeon nesting in some conifers but the trees are about 20m away! The door to the office is always wide open (until I go to bed) because the local robin comes in to get his food of one of the desks, we occasionally get frogs and toads, the odd hedgehog and once a newt hibernated in the dog basket over winter but never had anything lay an egg until now! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
