| | | Anyone know what bird this is please ? Hi, I saw a unusual bird in our garden in the south of England yesterday.
I managed to take a pic and video of it on my phone - but am unable to add them as the file is too big. It was about the size of a pigeon, with a grey chest and kind of sparrow like colour body. The really distinctive thing was its long black tuft on head and really unusually cry. I have looked at lapwing pics and it isn't one of those. If it comes back I will try and get a better photo - it`s still around as I heard it.
I hope someone can help - I emailed a pic to the Hampshire ornithological society - but they haven`t replied |

Could you not resize the photo and try and post it here?
Your bird may be an escapee of some sort
Or was it a Jay? http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/j/jay/

| | Re: Anyone know what bird this is please ? Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I have tried to re size it, but am unsure how to - it`s 1 mb. I thought it might be a escapee and have googled to see if anyone has posted missing ones, most pet ones however seem to be more brightly coloured. This one reminds me of a pheasant slightly - no tail feather etc ! I am obsessed now, and am neglecting everything whilst trying to identify it - ho hum |

| | | Re: Anyone know what bird this is please ? yes sounds like an escapee, but if you can sort a photo, it will be named on this forum . as it has no tail feathers , try quail, or partridge rossy.

Try looking at american quail for now
