| | | Good year for house sparrows round my way Counted just under 50 adults and youngsters in and around my garden the other day. They swarm round the fatball feeders and pick through the lawn for scattered seed and the like. I also got a load of dried mealworms cheaply and they have been scoffing them like it's going out of fashion. Really good to see the little flock that were there throughout such a harsh winter now much bigger in size. I hope I have helped their cause by regularly feeding them |

I got some in winter and nothing touched them. |

| | | Re: Good year for house sparrows round my way Good news ~T~
We are being visited more here than last year and the noise from them is far more noticeable this year. So I assume there are more of them here as well. Which is good news, especially since we don't know for certain what causes their decline, but whatever it is, it can't be good. |

| | | Re: Good year for house sparrows round my way Haven't tried counting them but we have a healthy population in our garden alone and as Deb remarked, the racket they make is impressive. Noisy wee buggers. lol
Also have noticed many more Tree Sparrows this season. Not in overwhelming swarms but noticeably up on last year.

Also pulls in Reed Buntings in winter My mum also got no takers for it in her garden, so my spuggies obviously have aquired tastes! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
