Egg Id

Found this egg whilst out walking yesterday, can anyone identify it for me?
It was found on the edge of a conifer plantation, with oak/beech woodland very close by.

Looks like a jays egg.

Thanks, there are a lot of Jays around the area I found the egg and I found a Jay feather nearby.
You can't seem to be able to buy a book on birds eggs any more, which is a shame.

I bought one a year or so ago - 2nd hand from Amazon (a friend had a copy and it's out of print now, so 2nd hand was the only way).

I agree with Acipter, they are similar to Blackbird eggs, but the black scribbles on top suggest Jay.
