RSPB Nature count

Just wondering if anyone else is/has taken part in the RSPB Nature count between the 4-12 of this month. I hope to have a hour tuesday morning to set me up nicely for the day out in sandy .. i hope its a dry day.....

They want to know about your birds and other creatures such as badgers, snakes, bats and toads, which is a bit strange when they only allow 1 hour and they are looking for records of diurnal and nocturnal animals.

I looked through the form as I was confused about references to animals other than birds. I now realise that you record the birds in an hour and record the others if you EVER have them in your garden:

Other wildlife
You may not see the following in the hour watching but we'd like to know if any of these visit your garden and, if so, roughly how often (please tick one box only per animal).

Badger


Bat


Grass snake


Great crested newt


Hedgehog


Frog


Toad


Stag beetle

Hopefully this will be worthwhile and I'll try and do my bit for the survey.

i want to do it, but im a tad confused, do we need to register with the RSPB or something first so they know we are taking part, or do we just record the birds and send our results to them ? I've already printed off their recording sheet

When you submit the form there are a few details to fill in at that time. Nothing else.
