| | | Bird of prey deaths - 2 prosecutions Two cases from our local paper this week concerning wildlife prosecutions, that may have escaped some of the national press:
One concerning the illegal possession of a red kite, which had allegedly been found in a trap, and died of blunt trauma to the head: (Fined £1500) Inverness Courier | News | Wildlife offenders receive fines
The second concerns the shooting manager of Skibo (shooting) Estate, found in possession of 10kg of carbofuran after two golden eagles had been found dead nearby... though he states he was not responsible for their deaths? (Fined £3,300) Gamekeeper Dean Barr fined for poisoning eagles on Skibo Estate with Carbofuran - The Daily Record

| | | Re: Bird of prey deaths - 2 prosecutions Thanks for putting the link up, but it annoys me so much the punishment given out. What deterrent is this? It is really difficult to get prosecutions as it is so when they do they should throw the book at them.

| | | Re: Bird of prey deaths - 2 prosecutions Extrordinary, killing golden eagles, what is the matter with these people, neandethal atittude, killing any bird animal wrong, but eagles, rare, and symbol and privialege of scotland, and getting a measly fine, l,d send them to jail for a while, just a few weeks would have more impact than a fine. Good job we dont all have the same mentality, be even more extinct species. |

| | | Re: Bird of prey deaths - 2 prosecutions Just googled the above item, and there is a lot of news about the killing of the eagles on skibo, looked that up also and the reference to skibo is the carnegie club, exclusive of course, only their members shoot there, and their actual coat of arms is what looks like an eagle flying above the castle, you wonder. |

| | | Re: Bird of prey deaths - 2 prosecutions i think they should have them doing some community work for wildlife, like cleaning up parks and woodlands and such, prison would be too easy for them, sit on ur ass, get ur meals and tv for a few weeks.. get them out there in the wild cleaning up litter and stuff | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
