Harrier and Rabbit

I watched this Marsh Harrier hunting over a grass field yesterday afternoon.
This time of the year there are plenty of small Rabbits about and hunting is quite easy for the Harriers.
This little lady hovered over a large buck Rabbit then dropped down just in front of him.
The Rabbit just sat there staring at the Harrier as if to say " go on, just try it "
After about a minute the Harrier thought twice about it and took off in search of smaller prey.

Haha that's great, lucky the rabbit didn't have the bird for dinner!

Quite impressed at the way the Bun has narrowed it's eyes, it would frightened me! The power of it's stare seems to have set the Harrier back on it's heels.

Having seen a rabbit see off a predatory stoat a few years ago, I think that the Harrier was being remarkably sensible.
