| | | Anyone been to the Galloway red kite feeding station? Thinking of heading down at the weekend for my uncles birthday and fish for a bit on Loch Ken then head up to see the kite feeding station. Do you know if they usually show? http://www.gallowaykitetrail.com/fee...ation-i38.html |

However you can move around to the area alongside the farmhouse where there are some chairs and tables, and stand behind the wall which provides an equally good view. (Also - regarding Loch Ken - We were overlooking the end of the loch from the hide and watching an otter and its young for about 40 minutes skidding around on the ice)

| | | Re: Anyone been to the Galloway red kite feeding station? I was there in early October last year. Got here one hour before feeding time and could numbers of Kites in trees mainly to the right of the main view to the feeding platforms. The feeding display was slow but picked up after half and hour or so. Local rabbit was on the menu.
An RSPB volunteer gave a good spiel and brought several bins and scopes to use including some top end stuff.
The viewing point up in the forestry near the original release pen was a dead loss though. I wish I had taken my chainsaw as tree growth had obscured the view towards the Loch. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
