Disturbed blackbird nest

Whilst thinning out my coppice i luckilly noticed a nest with 3 eggs in it. It's on a stump with some ivy cover remaining. The mother(?), looks black to me so maybe father(?), is still about and is making use of the fresh soil around the coppice for forraging so i think all may be well. Should i move the nest to somewhere higher/ safer or leave alone? I'll be away from Thursday for 3 weeks so the birds will get some peace.

Don't move the nest. If it's completely exposed maybe you could try using some old branches to give it some protection from predators. One of WABS users has lready tried something similar but under different circumstances, Click on the link below.

Thanks Scout. Ive plenty of matching shrubbery from the trimming i was doing so can knock up some kind of screen no problem. I'll do it tomorrow and let you know how it's going by the time i leave here on Thursday morning.

BTW, i noticed a female around this afternoon too... do blackbirds pair up during incubation and later for feeding, do you know, or maybe the pair coincidentally happen to hang around the same area?
