First off i would like to thank nige and his friend pete

for such an outstanding day ,in kent.
the weather dry but very windy ( cant ask for more ) and despite getting up at 5 and being to the first stop at 9 was cool.
Im going to embaress myself now

and even though i remember the names of the 2 major stops .rye harbour and dungness rspb reserve a few smaller stops were made along the way.(apologies nige overcome by the birds we saw)
I could go on about the birds we saw , c70 species in all and 15 new ones for me...

Avocet and their chicks were a highlight, until we saw a black redstart ( male and female) then i was hoping for a marsh harrier that i was told i would def encounter ....No harrier but up till that point, was just overjoyed at the company , experience , and the area's .It was all to much to take in.
That was until Nige spotted the MH .. i couldnt run out of the hide fast enough...

( the harrier was a long way away.)
That capped it really .Not much in the way of insects i was hoping to see a few butterflies....but a hobby did try and sneak past us ...(making it 2 raptors for the day).
As you gather i dont get to go out to these really good places , but when i do im like a kid in a sweet shop.

I started birdwatching a year ago in june and it was a fitting end to the year i have had.

not sorted though the pics yet , but then for some strange reason didnt take many , i think i was taken aback with it all .
