Ring-necked Dove

Can anyone tell me the incubation period for the ring-necked Dove. I have one nesting, not in a tree, but on our outlet flue from our boiler. She has very little nesting material (about a dozen twigs) woven together, but has 2 eggs. One was laid nearly 4 weeks ago, the other about two & a half weeks ago. There is no sign of a male & she does look a very young bird. I am beginning to wonder if the eggs are even fertile.

And chances are you bird is a Collared Dove, not a Ring-necked

Pigeon eggs hatch in around 17 days, so something along these lines would be similar for a Collared dove. They do build very spindly nests, often in very unsitable places. If she is happily sitting, I'd leave her be, and she will eventually give up.

It looks like you are right. It is a collared Dove. But unfortunately, it does look like her eggs are infertile, as there is no sign of either egg hatching. She is sat on the "nest" day after day & does'nt appear to have any sign of giving up as yet. But she has got used to our presence, even when we open the side door of the garage, very close to where she is situated (less than a foot).
