Dark headed juvenile sparrow
There is a juvenile sparrowin the garden, being fed by the parent birds at the moment with an unusually dark head. The colour is dark over the head gradually fading into brown around the neck. Its not being treated any differently from the other juveniles in the family but is quite distinctive. Its almost as though it has some adult male characteristics rather early. Is this a common phenomenon?
