| | Common Buzzard Webcam Just thought I'd let you know that we (Dorset Wildlife Trust) have a Common Buzzard Webcam this year at Barn Owl & Buzzard Webcam : Live Bird Webcam from Dorset Wildlife Trust
Very excited by this as it has taken a lot of work to get it this far. Our expert had to put cameras (earlier in the year) in several very, very tall trees in the hope that the pair would use one of the nests. We were lucky!
They did have 2 eggs but now down to one. Crows? squirrels?
The remaining egg is due to hatch over the next week.
If all goes well and the egg hatches, we'd love your help to record the prey being brought into the nest, and also if you see any behaviour you haven't seen at a nestsite before (there's a commenting section on the webpage or leave your comments on this post).
Many thanks! Jane Adams (at Dorset Wildlife Trust)
PS You can also watch the 4 growing Barn Owl chicks on the same link. They are growing fast! |

| | | Re: Common Buzzard Webcam No problem. The egg (if it survives) should be hatching any day now - which is very exciting.
The barn owls (also on the same page) had the 5th chick hatch today - getting busy!

| | | Re: Common Buzzard Webcam Thanks GME. They are very entertaining to watch! With 5 chicks so far (1 more egg to go) she has got her "wings" full. It will be very interesting to see the prey food items brought in - and trying to identify - we are hoping there will be a good supply at Lorton Meadows.

| | | Re: Common Buzzard Webcam I couldn't agree more Dave!
It's great that Bob & Brenda have come back for a second year - and this year we may end up with 6 chicks.
Female Buzzard is still incubating the one remaining egg that she has - she hasn't stood up yet today so I can't see if the egg has hatched (but it is due any day!)

| | | Re: Common Buzzard Webcam Buzzard update: still waiting for the egg to hatch...
Barn owl update: The female has just fed one of the chicks to the other chicks. Amazing how they know how much food is available and who is the weakest. Survival of the fittest in action. Doesn't look like egg 6 is likely to hatch - so 4 chicks it is... Barn Owl & Buzzard Webcam : Live Bird Webcam from Dorset Wildlife Trust

| | | Re: Common Buzzard Webcam Poor chick, really interesting how they evaluate situations like that though
Any news on the Buzzard egg yet? I've been watching but there's little movement so it's difficult to see if it's hatched yet. I'm guessing not still? | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
