Dave,

Are you saying that shooting and hunting are more of an incentive to farmers than agri-environment subsidies? Surely the income to the farmer generated by a foxhunt is virtually non-existent, and a shoot is also capital- and labour-intensive, with modest returns? So if they're creating/managing habitat for hunting/shooting, they're basically doing it for free?
