Young Gull for ID please.

Looks like one of this years young, photographed at Elmley this morning. But I'm just not up to identifying which type of gull. So help needed please.

Looks like a young Black Headed Gull to me. I would sat second summer but someone else can confirm that for definite as Gulls arn't my strongest subject

Disagree ! A 2nd summer Black-headed Gull would be adult. This is a 1st-summer Black-headed Gull.

I ment second summer as in its second some alive - a one year old bird Sorry for confussion

that's one of the things that don't make any sense to me, a gull in it's first summer is a juvenile, yet when they get into their second summer they're called first summer then on becoming adult in their third summer they're second summer birds.

so indeed that's a first summer bird which is actually in it's second summer

This is one of the reasons why many people now prefer to refer to the age of gulls as "calendar years" (this one would be a "second calendar year" Black-headed Gull).

Calendar years. Thats what I ment to say but I was trying to email, text, and reply all at the same time and i'm only a man!!!!
