| | | Not much luck with rarities My recent run of form with missing good birds seems to be continuing.
In the space of two weeks I was able to visit the area around Weymouth twice and managed to miss out on;
Short-toed Lark
Ortolan Bunting
Black Stork
Night Heron
Savi's Warbler
Balearic Shearwater
Red-backed Shrike
Red-rumped Swallow
Subalpine Warbler
plus
Arctic Skua
Great Skua
Pomarine Skua
Ring Ouzel
Puffin
A trip to Dungeness last weekend was enjoyable but lacking any real quality and there I managed to miss out on the Purple Herons hiding in the reedbeds.
The following day a Red-backed Shrike was there and the day after a Collared Pratincole turned up.
My dipped list could be longer than my year list at this rate.
Just hope I see the Club-tailed Dragonflies tomorrow at the WAB meet.
Cheers,
Adam |

Hope you have better luck next time!
Anyway you shouldn't complain, you got a Roseate Tern at Staines

| | | Re: Not much luck with rarities Aye, that was nice. Only my second ever and only about 7 miles as the tern flies from the last one at QE2 reservoir just down the road from me.
Cheers,

| | | Re: Not much luck with rarities I guess if it was easy it would be boring Adam. I think we all go through good and bad spells. I certainly do, a run of good photos then several outings with nothing special (Im on a bad run now) Those pesky Carrion Crows robbing all the nests that I find before I get the chance to photograph them
