| | | Stodmarsh Duck ID please Took this photo today and can't identify what it is. The nearest I can get is a female Garganey, but the white strip by the eye doesn't seem quite big enough. Although I have read there is at least one of that species there at present. Or is it a female Teal?
It's a quite small duck and was just hanging around on it's own right on the edge of the vegetation seen on the photo.
It's probably something very obvious.
Any help gratefully received, as ever.
Thank you,
Bryan

| | | Re: Stodmarsh Duck ID please It's a Pochard. Looks a bit funny though. Could be a hybrid.

| | | Re: Stodmarsh Duck ID please A bit more chestnut than most, but female Pochard can be quite variable and I don't think that this one is outside of normal variation. |

| | | Re: Stodmarsh Duck ID please Agree with Pochard....and it's female.
Perhaps a bit over exposed?.....or whatever you call it in photography terms!
Tracey
Edited to add.....I think it's the level of saturation I was thinking of!
