| | need to identify bird hello, we rescued this little bird from a dog, we waited to see if its mother came for it and it didnt, we looked around for nests and could not find one
so we have been hand rearing this little guy for the last four days, we would like to know what it is ? we have had various ideas from crow/robin/thrush to starling and more, he is eating really really well and is very lively
thanks in advance |

| | | Re: need to identify bird A coloured photo would help, as there is obviously some colouration coming on the quills.
Also, a bit better size comparison - is that an adult sized hand holding it? Might help if you put it next to a £1 coin or ruler and took another photo.
Most of the crows and other corvids are well on now - we have fully fledged magpies following their parent around here, so probably not a crow, but could be a late brood. Blackbirds and robins are nesting at the moment so it could be one of these, but a good size indicator would help. |

The beak does look sparrow/finch like, but it is sometimes difficult to tell with such a young bird. I don't think that it is a Starling because of the pale tips on the growing feathers in the wings (Starling fledglings are very plain). |
