| | | Found an egg on our field, identification please? Hi everyone. I've just found an egg which has recently been laid in the middle of a path in our field no nest and no adults were there. It's Light blue, matt and approx 45/46mm in size. Could you identify it for me Please?
will try and post a picture of it soon. Thanks |

Do you have ducks around you - either domestic or wild? This sounds more duck egg sized to me. Possibly stolen by a crow or similar, or even a squirrel, mink etc, and dropped. |

Thanks for the replys. I had a look on the internet and the closest I could find is a rook egg, but they're slightly smaller and glossy. Guess it could be a big rook egg. When I found it it still had a tiny bit of wet poo on it, so I presume it was laid minutes before i found it.
Could be some sort of duck egg as there's a small lake around here, maybe I startled it and it 'droped' it before it flew off?

| | | Re: Found an egg on our field, identification please? Its a bit late in the year for a rook egg, usually March. Too big for a starling egg at those measurements.I cant think at the moment,i expect someone will get back to you shortly. |
