| | | Bird ID req Took these a few days ago whilst out walking in the Peak District, I've not got a clue what they are ... there was about 4 of them, I thought they may have beeen some sort of Peahen ... but I cant find anthing quite like them on the internet. |

I did think they were helmeted but I trust htcdude more then myself =p

Ohs now I think it is a helmeted guineafowl again! the white-breasted species is meant to have black plumage with a white breast, and the pictures I have seen don't look like these.

Most Helmeted Guinea Fowl I know have blue faces, but searching around there are some that have white faces, so I dunno

I've never previously seen Helmeted Guineafowl with a white breast (like in the first photo), but it doesn't surprise me to see something like this in captive birds - the owner may even be trying to bred a "variety" that always has a white breast! |

Kept a few once, they got out of their run. Never did get them back alive.
Shot em all and put them in the freezer. They are "gamey" but delicious when they have lived wild for a while.
