Watched as this little Moorhen chick started pecking at a Vimto tin, then suddenly the parent bird that was only lovingly feeding it 5 mins earlier viciously attacked it, why do you think that was?

I watched a program that showed that moorhens often killed some of their own brood, maybe it's that. Then again Vimto is pretty good, I wouldn't be too happy someone taking mine  |

They are very strange birds, only eatlier it guided them away from a Heron who looked very interested in the youngsters, or was the Heron after the Vimto aswell? lol

Could it be that she was chastising it seeing the can as a danger it ought to avoid in case it got it's head stuck in the hole etc, lots of birds and chicks die every year from getting into trouble trying to eat or getting caught up in assorted rubbish that we thoughtlessly leave lying around
