Sparrow/Starling interaction.

I've just been sat here watching 6 Starlings foraging in the grass about 10 yards away from me, foraging along with them was a single juvenile Sparrow. This is 2 days running I've seen this. Is it usual behaviour for the Sparrow?

Sparrows chicks are just beginning to hatch now they will be feeding their young insects I think what you saw was an adult female that was probably catching any insects stirred up by the starlings, I have seen groups of starlings and sparrows feeding together on my lawn before so I'd say it was usual for them to do this.

Different bird species often forage together. Not unusual especially as both species occur in similar habitats. Its likely that they will both be feeding on different things.
