Have to say I have a real soft spot for these birds. I was doing a few bits in the garden first thing this morning + was treated to some full throttle calls from a small group flying over. Pleased to say these birds + Lesser Blackbacks have become common residents around me. |

I love the call of Herring Gulls. Always takes me back to memories of trips to the seaside when I was a kid many years ago I might add. The call of the Herring Gull was one of the first sounds we used to hear on arrival. |

It would be easy to dislike Herring gulls - they appear to have the social graces of a malajusted baboon - but, I think they are, by their call, the bird that defines the seaside.
