License for Photographing Corncrakes

I am going over to a small island of the coast of Ireland in a few weeks to photograph Corncrakes with a friend who lives there. He has just rang me to say that he has just received our licenses. They didnt even take any details from me and asked no questions. I am a little surprised how easy it is to obtain one for over there and think they should be stricter. Good job its not that easy over here.

Maybe phone or email them and let them know? You would've thought if you needed a license for something they'd make it kinda harder to get! Otherwise not much point in having the licenses.

It sounds like your friend dealt with the applications, so how much detail do you know?

It may be that he had to provide far more information (eg. about his photographic experience, and the techniques to be used), and your licence may then only allow you to accompany him - with him taking responsibility for your actions.
Alternatively they may allow photography, but restrict you to public footpaths etc, from which there would be disturbance anyway.

Anyway, even if it seemed easy, you are a competent bird photographer so in this case I can't believe that the licence is a mistake!
