| | | nuthatch in my birdbox we have several bird boxes with cameras - in previous years we have had bluetits and greattits in them - however this year we have a nuthatch in one of the boxes! We can't see how many eggs she has because she covers them up every time she leaves the box, I have taken photos of the TV screen, can anyone please help me to post them here? Thank you |

| | | Re: nuthatch in my birdbox thanks so much for doing this Fudgey - much appreciated. These are actually photos of the TV screen! In the third pic you can just make out 2 eggs - I don't know how many there are as she covers them up whenever she leaves the nest. Thanks again |

| | | Re: nuthatch in my birdbox How exciting and brilliant pics!! We have a nuthatch nesting regularly in one of our boxes on the farm. I bet you will find, when you clean the box out in the autumn, that the lid is mudded to from the inside and, probably, the hole has mud around it. This seems to be typical of nuthatch box nesting behaviour. Good luck - look forward to seeing some pics of the chicks!! |

| | | Re: nuthatch in my birdbox thank you Ladywell - I hope to get pics of the chicks soon. My problem is that we have holiday cottages - each cottage has a TV link to a birdbox - the nuthatch is in a cottage which is let for a week from this coming Saturday! So I will not be able to go in there and check on the TV what is happening! It will be a very looooong week! |

| | | Re: nuthatch in my birdbox the nuthatch has now been sitting on the eggs for at least 17 days - I would have thought they would have hatched by now if they were going to - does anyone know the incubation period for a nuthatch please? |
