| | | Bird Call ID please Hi there, heard a woodland bird today. Hope you can identify the call from my description, I thought at first it was a Chaffinch but it sounded different to a Chaffinch, however perhaps it was a variant of call?
It sounded like t-t-t-t-t-t-t-ttttttttt-trilllll. The t-t- bit got faster but a real fluid 'trill' sound at the end. It did not sound like the usual Chaffinch call, perhaps a variant then, or a different bird perhaps? |

A Wren has that big noticeable trill at the end. |

Have a listen to some songs here - it may help: xeno-canto/Europe :: bird sounds from Europe

Thats almost a phonetic transcription of the song.
I've never seen or heard one before, and with hindsight I;m sure Guinnessman has heard loads of wrens on his walks! |

| | | Re: Bird Call ID please Guinnessman, you put that beautifully into words. It sounds like a perfect description of a wood warbler. I doff my flat cap.

| | | Re: Bird Call ID please Hi there, thanks for all your feedback.....
It was not a Wren, never heard a Wren with this call before in all my life.
I've now just listened to the Wood Warbler call on the RSPB - and it's spot on with what I heard out walking that day!
I'm really chuffed as I've not seen (or ever heard) a Wood Warbler for nearly four years so that's really great!!!!! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
