| | | An exciting morning with the RSPB Two members of the RSPB came here this morning to do a survey of birds on 200 acres of our farmland. We started out at 6am and the bird song was just unbelievable. They were amazed at the large numbers of Whitethroats in the hedges and when they re-visit in a month's time they will be able to tell if they were just passing through or not. Here is a list of birds we saw in the four hours it took to walk round.
Blackbird
Black-headed gull
Blue tit
Carrion Crow
Chaffinch
Collared dove
Coot
Cuckoo
Dunnock
Grasshopper warbler
Great tit
Greenfinch
Greylag Goose
House sparrow
Jackdaw
Jay
Little Egret
Linnet
Magpie
Mallard
Meadow pipit
Moorhen
Pied wagtail
Red-legged partridge
Redshank
Reed bunting
Robin
Sedge warbler
Short eared owl
Skylark
Sparrowhawk
Starling
Stock dove
Swallow
Whitethroat
Wood pigeon
Wren
Yellow wagtail
Yellowhammer |

| I was blown away by the Grasshopper warbler. It was a real eye opener for me to go round with people who could identify the birds and I can't wait for the next visit. |
