| | removing pictures I have sent in 20 top quality pics recently to the Gallery all refused, feel like ditching this site... clear favouritism..we all don't have cameras and lenses worth thousands of pounds, I use a 7 year old EOS 300 D with a relatively slow 55 /200 mm lens, will love to give whoever the editor is that camera and see what they can do with that equipment, well whatever they are trying to acheive is working, I am getting put off submitting pictures..
I will send all my pics strait on to the images from now on...hate being spiked,

DALE MILES 01 is there a reason given why your pics are not accepted?

| | | Re: removing pictures no, always make sure the files are right size, I would not mind, but then I see a far inferior picture has been accepted. I think it's luck of the draw who the monitor is on the day or time of day, sick of wasting my time, going to find another website that will accept my pictures.. |

| | | Re: removing pictures Dale,
Don't get uptight about this. The Gallery editors simply do not ever refuse photos on the basis of what equipment they were taken with. - There are hundreds, if not thousands of photos in WAB's Gallery taken with point and shoot or bridge cameras, as well as those at the more expensive end of things.
If you are absolutely certain that your photos comply size wise (several other people have said the same, but then realised their pics didn't comply), then the only reason for refusal would be incorrect titling.
Have a careful read of this post I made on the subject some time back. It's a long post, but everything you need is there in detail, for posting images to either Image Library or Gallery..
Many people have since confirmed that the information there has solved any problems they had with getting photos accepted into the Gallery: - http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...tml#post657362
Best of luck.
Regards,
Mike.

| | | Re: removing pictures I fully agree with you Dale I know of other people in the same boat as you. The Gallery has become very clique. I don't know if the moderators look at the image or the name of the person who has uploaded the image.
What I can't understand is if you give any negative critique I am told that this is not a Photography forum, yet the images have got to be up to a certain standard before they are accepted.
There are a lot of other forums that you can post your image on and if you want to improve your photography you can ask for critique.

| | | Re: removing pictures Totally agree.Ive used loads of forums, and never encountered mods having to approve pictures. You can just put the pics on to your post, with out putting on to a Gallery, either via your computer,or through a picture hosting site.(photobucket is free to use)
I tried yesterday,to put some progress of my pond.Dont know where they are
I havent got any fancy picture editor to resize my pictures.Photo bucket does it,and copies straight to sites.Cant see the problem with that. |

| | | Re: removing pictures the purpose of the Gallery is to be an educational resource - so clearly pics have to be of a certain (all be it basic) standard ie in focus and clearly showing the subject.
If dales pics are being rejected and meet those criteria then it isnt to do with his gear (most of my shots in the Gallery were taken with a 300D - and there are loads of members who have only compacts succesfully submitting shots)
Assuming the size isnt the issue (they need to be 800 pix wide - so if portrait shots are submitted they need to be 800 on the shortside, not 600 wide by 800 high) the other comon reason for pics being rejected is non standard titling - Gallery images must be titled common name-latin name anything else is rejected out of hand.
Also @ Dai wab has a whole forum dedicated to the critique of photographs, you just arent encouraged to do it on the Gallery comments because thats not what they are for. Also I'm puzzled by your comments about the Gallery becoming a clique , when we met at gigrin you were using a Canon 1D mkii IIRC and a far better lense than mine
