| | | A Swift story This story was written by my 6 year old daughter. She dictated it to me and it is in her own words. It was her entry to a competition for children to write a wildlife story.
Although she didn't win, her story now has pride of place on the Swift Conservation website - topical right now with their impending arrival! Swift Conservation News |

How true!

| | | Re: A Swift story Cara pace - I'm a regular on the Swift Conservation page and was bowled over by your daughter's words. The best thing I've read all year I said at the time!
If your daughter wants to see swifts nesting (if yours aren't being filmed) - we have these birds (my favourite birds!) nesting in our roof each year.
We've had one roosting since St.George's day and building a nest (badly, like most swifts!) for the last couple of days now.
Last year I webcast the successful family raise and fledge two young.
This year, whilst I'm not webcasting, I am uploading daily videos here.
Anyway, please thank your daughter from all of us here at "Swift Half"!

| | | Re: A Swift story Hello TBR,
Thank you so much for your lovely words! I will pass them on in the morning.
I have just visited your link, what fantastic images!
We will definitely be following your swifts' progress this year. Hopefully your swift shouldn't have too long to wait until the others arrive, I can't believe how early she was! One can only imagine the journey she must've had to get here. She deserves a bit of quiet time before the (screeching) party animals arrive!
I love the name 'Swift Half' too! |
