Cormorant Question
Does anyone know why this bird has a white neck?? I cant seem to find anything in me books about it.

Any Ideas??

It's getting old and turning grey!

A proportion of Cormorants, particularly but not exclusively those of the continental sinensis race, do develop a lot of white on the head and neck when in breeding plumage (as well as the white patch on the 'thigh').
I have seen suggestions that this is more common in older birds, but I'm not sure how true that is.
