Bird ID please - Is this Starling??

Hi folks,
I have this beautiful bird (look at the colours! like a rainbow!) com eand hang around my house for a whole 2 hours in February 2010.

It looks like a starling, but he was alone and not in a group.
What is this bird please?

You're right, it's a Starling. Very colourful birds - can be entertaining too.

I feel like shaking anybody who says..'starlings,theyre horrible,such drab birds'

or 'I only see starlings where I live'.

I like to see the beauty in ALL of God's Creations. Especially having originated from exotic South Asia and having spent time in the Amazon jungle.. I find the sheer beauty, diversity and wonder of Earth's bio-diversity, simply overwhelming and humbling.

Looks like a male from the blue at the base of the bill. The girl Starlings have pink! Really. Only obvious in breeding plumage so it doesn't apply all year round though.

I love starlings there the main birds in my garden,soon they will bring there babies feed all day they have for the last 2 years.

I regularly had them nesting in the space behind my soffit boards, alas they seem to have been ousted by some very eager jackdaws.

I think the're getting their own back fo me putting a cowel over the chimney

I seem to have a pair as well, regular visitors to the fat cake.I think there nesting at the end house...so will keep an eye open.
