| | | Chiffchaffs nesting Working on a motorway bridge has its positives . Today i watched from above as a pair of chiffchaffs went back and forth into some low brambles ,as often as every 60 seconds although the male stopped sometimes to blast out his chiffchaff call from the nearby tree.I think they are nest building although they may have been feeding chicks i guess,to hard to see what they were carrying.A cat came too close and one was seen to dive just above the cats head ,causing the cat to crouch .
Also saw a great crested grebe with 3 chicks on its back this weekend,is this early ?. |

In my area they have sometimes been known to hatch chicks over Christmas and the New Year (is that early or late! ). |

| | | Re: Chiffchaffs nesting Isn't it April to September they nest? So yours NatureNutz I guess are just a tad early.
RoyW you just have a strange pair near you, maybe they've been watching Pigeons do it all year and thought they'd try
