Scarred Blackbird?

Hi i have a male blackbird in my garden and it appears to be the same one that returns every spring. I think it is the same bird as it appears to have a scar of some sort similar to the injury on a bird i noticed (in my garden) a few years ago. Could it be the same bird and do birds have scars? The scar is on it's left side. cheers.

He could have had a close encounter with a cat? usually I can't tell the difference between my blackbirds, but I did have one that was quite tame and would come and drink out of the dogs water bowl, sadly he isn't around now. I think I've read somewhere, probably here that they can live to seven years.

According to the BTO website the longest lived Blackbird recorded was 14 years 2 months and 1 day old, ringed as a nestling at Oundle in Northamptonshire on the 14th May 1937 and found dead at the same place on the 15th August 1951.
So it is quite possibly the same bird.
