| | | Help Nesting Robin A pair of Robins have built a nest, and laid four eggs, on a table in my garden shed. How can I optimise survival for any chicks, as open window is 2' above nest and the table is some 2'6" high and normal gardening debris on table/floor etc. Don't want to leave door open as cats etc could then enter shed. Will chicks flutter to floor and then get stuck or are they good fliers to start with. |

| | | Re: Help Nesting Robin welcome dumbird, dont worry about the chicks, once they fledge they will make their way out, as they learn pretty quickly how to get about, let us know how you get on, rossy. |

| | | Re: Help Nesting Robin Yep as rossy says they will find their own way out and living in the shed in the beginning will probably be safer for them. |

| | | Re: Help Nesting Robin We've had robins nesting in the garage/workshop for a number of years in the most unlikely places, amongst old land rover engine bits on a shelf, on another shelf amongst spray paint tins etc, on a ledge behind 'stuff' me hubby hung up just in case he needs it, they always seem to be successful in raising their broods and we've only ever found one dead chick in a nest, we leave the garage door open just a tad so they can fly in and out either top or bottom but not enough so that cats can get in and leave a saucer of water and a dish of robin mix on the freezer to help them a bit, a blackbird also nests in there most years amongst my husbands junk oops sorry motor memorabilia
