The top foot or so has been ravaged by Great Spotted Woodpeckers.

Bryan, PS. Just checked. It's still in the garden. Although Sunny did ask where I kept my saws! | Nice shot of the woodpecker Bryan. Its not that he can't find it, he just doesn't want to use it and then one morning when he comes to feed, your log has 'mysteriously' disappeared.
Check Tracey's luggage when she leaves and be wary. That long wrapped parcel might not be "extra long walking poles" or "a new curtain rail"

| | | Re: Using a perching log Well, it survived this visit by Sunny. And I did escort her all the way back to Bakewell just to make sure. Where I missed the chance of a perching Jackdaw as I had left my camera at home. Silly Yeti! LOL!
So, back on my own at home today, I spent a couple of hours with camera trained on the post.
I did bait the top with some seeds, and these two had a right time eating them all!
Got a Great Tit on it as well, but only after it had gone rather dull. (The weather that is, not the bird). But having no luck getting a Goldfinch perching on the top. They usually spend a few seconds on the side of it before attacking the feeder.
