| | robin i would like to ask i have robins nesting they have hatched five eggs but this morning i was woken by a cat trying to get at them they are in a small conifer is there anything i can get to keep the cats away last year this same cat killed four baby blackbirds that were in large conifer tree in my back garden thanks if anyone can suggest anything |

| | | Re: robin I was looking at some ways of keeping away cats away from certain places in the garden, there is a plant called Coleus canina (scardy cat plant) that cats really hate the smell of, maybe you could plant one of these at the bottom of this conifer tree?
I read somewhere else that they also hate the smell of lavender so some people use lavender essential oil or plant lavender as cat repellent. I just tested this with my cat and a sprig of lavender which he didn't like  .
They also really dislike citrus smells and in the past I have used orange peel to keep my cat from picking at the carpet. |

| | | Re: robin elephant poo is supposed to be a deterrent it can be bought in boxes from a number of places, gadgets that give off a sonic signal or get a kids power water squirter keep it pumped up and when they appear fire at them.

| | | Re: robin please can anyone think of what to put down straight away to keep the cats at bay as it has attacked the nest and eaten four of the baby robins we found one under a tree and was advised by wildlife sanctury to put on gloves and put the baby back in the nest have done this and parents have been back to feed it but it only a few days old |
