| | | Sevenoaks wildlife reserve Hi everyone, just thought I'd tell you all about Sevenoaks reserve, near Sevenoaks in Kent. (Kent wildlife trust) Absolutely beautiful place with river, ponds, reedbeds, woodland, lakes and scrapes. I saw: reed bunting, little ringed plover, lapwing, cormorant, greylag goose, canada goose, mute swan, coot, moorhen, mallard, tufted duck, great crested grebe, teal, jackdaw, woodpigeon, starling, carrion crow, magpie, bluetit, great tit, long tailed tit, lesser black backed gull, black headed gull, chiffchaff, blackcap, willow warbler, chaffinch, grey heron, great spotted woodpecker, robin, wren, green woodpecker and blackbird plus various butterflies and wild flowers. Great place. Has anyone else visited? What did you see? |

| | | Re: Sevenoaks wildlife reserve You did better than me Susy.
I've just spent 13 hours there in the last few days, mostly in the Carter Hide looking mainly at a couple of Moorhens, whilst waiting for the Kingfisher to turn up.
He did once, but too far away for anything approaching a decent photo.
I've been told the Kingfishers will be busier in a months time when they are feeding young. But I'll probably go back there before then to see some of what I missed in my lonely Carter Hide vigil.
Oh, yesterday a buzzard circled overhead for a short while. And this morning a bullfinch stood on a branch next to the Carter Hide just long enough for me to point my camera at him. But not long enough to get a focus and press the shutter!

I made sure I didn't dip my toes in the water with this thing swimming around just in front of the hide from time to time!

Cheers,
Adam | Ah, but it was only frozen in temperature, not friendliness |

I was lucky enough to get some wonderful views of a kingfisher there last year, kentyeti, really close up.. amazing dragonflies too.
I shall be visiting more often. What other birds can be found there? |

Bryan | Hi Bryan are you aware that this is an American mink? Have you told the owners of the reserve? If you have not done so it is important that you let someone know or the local bird fauna or water voles (if they have them) will be at increased levels of danger, unless they already control them there.
Unless it my eyes.

Any one of those would be enough to feed a kingfisher and his family for about a year!

| | | Re: Sevenoaks wildlife reserve Cheers Dave, my over active imagination it seems. If you zoom in to the left hand part which breaches the water it looks like a pink nose and an eye and the other part to the right would be the tail . Or maybe its just the the Sevenoaks monster.
Nice looking fish by the way. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
