Mandarin Ducks
Had a lovely walk in the Derbyshire Dales with a friend yesterday and saw this pair sat on the river bank near Ashford. The shot was taken from a little bridge, a lot further away from them than it looks - hence the crop.

I just love the colour of the male, in all his finery!

Smart ducks indeed. There was a drake on the local canal for some months a few years back and I got used to it enough to nickname him Malcolm simply to be obscure. I miss him!
