Wheatears

Got home late last night from an enjoyable weeks holiday. Awoke this morning to a beautiful blue sky, loads of blossom on the trees and quite a few of these chaps on my patch.
Its a good time of the year.

The more upright one is a superb, but I really like the other with what looks like a bee in the background.

Good to see one of the long distance migrants returning.

Plenty moving through now- quite a lot seen in the London area over the last few days.

two were on my local patch yesterday but 95 were recorded at Spurn Point and wish i had been there to see that. It's also well worth getting out and about to see what is tagging along with them

Where are folks seeing wheatears at the moment?

Could be the very good weather that is helping them move north, but I saw one about a couple of miles north of Stac Pollaidh this morning.

I can't remember a spring with so many Wheatear sightings in the London area. There have been some high counts + birds all over the place. I've seen them at most sites I've visited in recent weeks.

Oodles of them passing through Staines Moor at the moment. Saw at least 9 myself the other day when the highest count was 16 on that day.
