| | Blue Tit pecking inside box Hey guys, we've put up a bird box with a camera inside it for the first time this year and yesterday we've been getting a lot of activity by a blue tit. Not sure if it's a male or female one but this one has been pecking and picking so much at the wood at the bottom of the box really quite violently and has been doing this for several days and it's left a huge gauge in the wood now.
It also keeps, what seems to be, doing a little dance and falling over like it's drunk which is quite amusing but I would really like to know why it's behaving like this. It seems like its collecting the wood chips and dumping them outside the box and it also takes things into the box but then after a while dumps them back outside. I think there's also another blue tit around that keeps poking its head in on the odd occasion. Is there a possibility that it has a nest somewhere else and it's trying to get rid of this bird box? I think it's been pecking the inside of the hole of the box as well but it's mostly been pecking at the bottom and lifting big chips of wood up.
Thanks for any help! |
