They're back
I read that Chiffchaffs are summer migrants, normally arriving in March. Well, I can vouch for that, and as far north as Scarborough. I walked along the Forge Valley (above East Ayton) yesterday and there must have been one every few yards.

This is the first bird I learned to recognise by its song before I ever saw one. What surprises me is how small this bird is, considering its early arrival.

Likewise IanP i went out today for a little walk , and low and behold i couldnt stop hearing them . i eventually caught up with one mind.

Lovely little bird and a joy to watch as they search for food among the willows bordering our local pond here in Selsey.
