| | | Re: Mallard nesting in Garden Hi ELwoods girl. I read your previous post about the pond getting dirty (they do produce a lot don't they!) and wondered if you could put up a temporary little fence around your pond and just provide a small plant tray or similar for mum and any ducklings when they come.
They don't need much water, as long as they can climb in and splash about, they're happy enough. Just replace water every 24 hours.
Good luck with them. You are very lucky ot be chosen ! |

We set up a paddling pool in our back garden because we got ducklings last year. They were happy enough with it
When they got to a decent size, we took the pool away, and can only assume they travelled to the Dam across the road |

| | | Re: Mallard nesting in Garden I am intrigued by the re appearance of "Reynard" the Fox . He is in the Garden every morning from Sun up till 6.30 ish ,then disappears. Not before he has dug a few sizeable holes in my Flower Beds. Sniffs the air frequently ,as if he is trying to sense any more ducklings ? We haven't had Foxes in our garden for quite a few years , amazing what a kill can produce.
I know when they go rampant in a Coop they will come back over time for the Hens they have dispatched ,and bury them. You don't think she has buried the chicks do you ? |

Bless her ... I was very pleased to see her back xx | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
