| | | Capel Fleet Bird ID help please This photo is cropped right down to the actual pictels of a very long diatance shot taken a few minutes from sunset tonight at Capel Fleet. I only took it to help me ID the bird at the time as I don't take binos when I'm photographing. Blowing such photos up to max size in the camera viewfinder usually tells me it's a pigeon. But not this time!
It should be Marsh Harrier at that location. But it just doesn't look like one. Is it just a trick of the evening light and the extreme distance it was away from me?
I dont think it's Robin! LOL!
Cheers,
Bryan

Was at Capel Fleet yesterday and Thursday afternoon and evenings, and I didn't see the Short Eared Owl. It has consistently hunted the field next to the viewing point up until then in late afternoon/early evening, so I guess he may well have left now. I last saw him Tuesday evening, as I didn't go Wednesday.
But every time I've been there, I've enjoyed a very good display from the Marsh Harriers. Albeit on two days when there was local farm machinery working they changed their routing a bit, which is otherwise very consistent. But still clearly visible from the Harty Ferry Road at that point. Plus a resident Kestrel, and a Heron that drops in late afternoon nearly everyday!
Cheers,
Bryan

Bryan | Thanks. I keep meaning to go there but the entrance road to Elmley is like a magnet that draws me in! Cant resist having a look for a good photo along it! |

Needs a lot of patience, but I did happen upon a Kestrel the other day that wasn't at all bothered by my car getting very close as it hunted.
