| | | Injured pigeon I found an injured pigeon. It was being attacted by another bird. The pigeon has lost one of his eyes. Its in a box at the moment in my shed. What's the best I can do to help this bird? |

| | | Re: Injured pigeon The wings seem unbroked. Its in a state of shock I imagine. It's eye is lost I think; just a blob of blood in the socket. The bird attacking it was much larger, def not another pigeon. quite a wide wing-span, a slightly hooked beak. I am no expert on species. I live in a town but on the outskirts. |

| | | Re: Injured pigeon Possibly a sparrowhawk. As harsh as this sounds its often best to leave them alone, the hawk has to eat too.
Im sure someone will offer you some further advice on here how to treat the pigeon, for now what your doing is fine as long as its quiet and undisturbed. |

| | | Re: Injured pigeon Thankyou for replying. I will leave it go free tomorrow, i'll give it time to calm down for now. I doubt whether it will survive for long; but as you say it's a natural occurance and that these things happen. Thanks again. |

| | | Re: Injured pigeon Hello Tinae and welcome to WAB!
What area are you in? Can you get to a rescue centre locally or ring round the vets to find one willing to treat pigeons/wildlife? Your pigeon needs veterinary attention. Please don't release it.
Legally, in order to be released, your pigeon would need to be in a condition whereby it can adequately fend for itself.
Let us know how you get on. Good luck! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
