| | | You've got to laugh Just been having my tea watching the ground feeding birds having theirs after the rain, they included 5 yellow hammers, assorted sparrows, finches, 4 blackbirds, a pigeon, two collared doves and a grey legged partridge, suddenly a water hen that had been on the fish pond came running across the lawn it's neck straight out like an exorcet missile it charged through the birds and made a beeline for the partridge and chased it round the garden bit like Benny Hill, the partridge vanished and the moorhen went back on the pond, next thing the partridge was back with its mate and both went to the food the moorhen came off the pond but wasn't so brave with there being two of them and hung back a bit, then the local pheasant flew in for his tea and scattered all of them who needs the tv with all that happening

| | | Re: You've got to laugh Hee, hee, and I bet there was more than enough food to go round too.
I love the bit where the Waterhen thought twice about it when there were two Partridges.

This bird is interesting - 'grey legged partridge'... Errm, they are grey, or red-legged,...so which was it please?
I remember when I lived in Sussex, there were a couple of birds who courted with the female running round the garden as fast as her legs would carry her with the male sprinting just as fast after her. I remember the comic aspect better then the species but I think they were grey partridges. |
