ID please

Not a very good pic i am afraid, large crop. Would appreciate if anyone can id these, i am assuming they are some sort of gull. They were working over a ploughed field in Oxfordshire. Thanks

Thank you very much, i now wish i had tried harder I never thought of that, guess i didnt expect to see them over a field, kind of associated them with ponds, lakes etc.

They will be nesting in the ploughed field mate.

Much less common than they used to be, but I see them from time to time. Years ago I lived in Sussex, in a big old house on the South Downs, and they used to fly around the neighbouring fields, often at twilight, so my landlady mistook them for owls.

They used to nest in fields near me, now pretty much all of those fields have houses on them

Always remind me of two table tennis bats flapping and flying overhead.
