Brave place to build a nest!

As those of you who have read my intro would know, I work demonstrating birds of prey..... and last year, I was flying an indian tawny eagle to this 'Raptor post' which is used for feeding the birds when training aswell as to tether the birds and to my suprise I found a little tits nest on the inside! I currently had an eagle sitting on the perch and at at the same time the mother bird was coming in and out of the post feeding her babies! Did make me laugh at the time... and every chick fledged perfectly!

Tits will nest in all kinds of places, ironic how its an eagle perch though. Saying that its not unheard of for smaller birds to build nests in the base/sides of large raptor nests.

Oh i know i know, My dad often does work in south africa and said some small birds communally nest on the bottom of large eagle nests! clever things! but this bold little tit did make me laugh at the time flitting in and out when I was feeding the eagle without a care in the world haha
