| | | General Assistance + id Hi there,
Went to Oxford last week, and i saw dozens of Red Kite but i could not get a photograph as i was driving on the motorway,
Anyway yesterday was driving in my area of Enfield, and i saw a red kite above, i quickly pulled over, got camea out and cought a picture, not to clear though it was quite a way up, But thats the first Red Kite iv'e seen in my area.
Iv'e got a bird here, the nearest resemblence i could find is a whitethroat?
I also saw two green birds, which i'm sure they were parrots, is that usual in England.
Thank you for all your help. |

The bird in the picture is a male Chaffinch.
Your green parrots are probably Ring-necked parakeets which are becoming increasingly common in the South-east.

| | Re: General Assistance + id Why did you think the Chaffinch was a Whitethroat as it doesn't even have a white throat? Not being facetious just curious as to why? I know it can be tricky when you start brding.
Agree your green birds were probably Ring-necked Parakeets- there's probably 50,000 or so of them in the Greater London/adjacent areas. There are also small numbers of other parrot family members at liberty too, with Monk Parakeet the most numerous of these. |

| | | Re: General Assistance + id I new it wasen't a whitethroat, I was giving a close lookalike to what i could find in pictures.
I already had a picture of a chaffinch but rather blured, Silly me i did not recorgnize the two as the same. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
